My husband and I were watching television one night when our dogs began barking like crazy. Jim went out to investigate and found the dogs were barking at a little fluffy gray and white cat. The cat was escaping over the fence, and Jim told the dogs to leave the cat alone. When the cat heard Jim's voice, he came back to the top of the fence. Jim lifted his hands in amazement, "What are you doing?" but the cat did not run away. He leaped into Jim's arms and never looked back. We named the cat Charlie.Charlie had a very infected eye and our vet determined that the damaged eye could not be saved. But Charlie recovered very well from the surgery. He does not know he is handicapped. He is adventurous and playful. He doesn't seem to get angry, loves the dogs, and believes he is the King of the House. When Charlie jumped into Jim's arms, he was turning away from his past of pain, hunger, and violence. He did not know Jim, but he seemed to know that his future life with Jim as "Dad" would be better than his past life on his own. We would be so blessed if, like Charlie, we put all our confidence in our Heavenly Father.
"Father God, please help me to yield trustingly to You, knowing You will provide me with a better future in Your love than my past outside of Your love."
